Yes, iPublishCentral uses Paypal for all ecommerce transactions. Customers make payments on the CAP ebooks site using their credit cards. The site passes on the credit card details to Paypal for processing and, on successful acknowledgement, grants access to the content. The credit card information is not stored on Impelsys servers at any point of time. Paypal is PCI compliant, making this solution secure, and anyone who has access to the Impelsys database will not be able to access any credit card information.
All CAP ebooks have the table of contents available through ViewInside. Click the ViewInside button for a preview of the contents. Note: the format of the contents is different in ViewInside (it is a PDF of the print version of the book) than in the actual ebooks, which are in EPUB format.
A charge will appear on your credit card statement under the name eBook Sale for the purchase of your ebook(s). You will not receive a confirmation; the ebook will be immediately available. CAP ebook purchases are nonrefundable. Purchase orders are not accepted by the site.
Once you purchase an ebook, it will appear in your Bookshelf.
To access the content, click on the symbol next to “Online Reading Options.” This will open the ebook for online reading. You can read your ebooks online on most devices connected to the Internet through a web browser with the Flash player installed (see “Technical Information” below).
The iPublishCentral Reader is a software program that, after a one-time installation onto your computer, allows you to download, store, and read any book from the CAP ebooks store when offline. Once you login to the CAP ebooks site using your account, you will notice a button “Download iPublishCentral Reader.”
Click on the download button to go to the installation page. Click on “Install Now” to set up iPublishCentral reader on your system.
The first time you launch the Reader, the following message will be displayed: “No books have been downloaded to the bookshelf.” Click the Login button at the upper right corner of the screen.
Select Normal User.

Access code redemption and purchases can only be done through the CAP ebooks store (through a browser on a PC, Mac, or tablet)—not through the CAP ebooks reader app.
STEP 1. Go to the CAP ebooks store (ebooks.cap.org). If you already have an account, simply log in with your CAP ebooks username and password. If you have not registered, click “Sign Up”
STEP 2. Once you are successfully logged in, you will be redirected to your Bookshelf. There is also a Bookshelf link at the top of the page. Once you are on the Bookshelf page, click the Redeem Access Code button.
STEP 3. Enter your access code in the Redeem Access Code field. (Do not include any spaces. Letters in the code should be capitalized.) Click the Redeem button and the appropriate ebooks will be placed on your Bookshelf.
Your CAP account is not linked to the CAP ebooks store. You will need to create a separate account in order to purchase ebooks. You are free to use the same username and password as your cap.org account, or you can create unique credentials for the CAP ebooks site.
Click on the "My Folder" link and choose the "Profile Setting" option, from the drop down list choose "Change Password," enter a new password, and click "OK." Your password will be reset to the new password.
No. CAP ebooks are a separate product and as such must be purchased separately.

Yes. Institutions such as libraries, hospitals, and practices can subscribe to the entire CAP ebooks collection by contacting libraries@impelsys.com. Or select the “For Institutions” tab on the CAP ebooks store and click on “Request for Information.” Collection subscribers will automatically receive updates as soon as they are published to the CAP ebooks site.
All CAP ebooks are priced about 30% off the list price of the print version, so the “member discount” is built in.
Print books can be purchased through the College of American Pathologists (CAP) website. Go to www.cap.org and click on the Shop tab. To purchase a print book, you will need to either create an account or log in with your existing cap.org account.
